water cake i may try but i don't like normal pumpkin pies so clear one is no go by default.
I think pumpkin spice is an abomination.

i made my first clear unflavored gelatin aspic today.
just geline and water nothing else.
Turned out great. it now sitting counter looking at me!

I must say that I love the water cake, so clear and pretty. I want one of those moulds, you could use it for ordinary or champagne jelly too!

I wouldn't be surprised if it turned up on BakeOff .

I love the appearance of the pumpkin pie too but it's not something easy to recreate at home.

I must say I can't really see the point in wasting gelatine just to set in water, I can't think of any dish which would call for that without flavouring or one of the 5 tastes.

Pepper Pig i do lots of experimenting with difference ingredients.

the aspic i plan on using at christmas centerpiece will have flowers in it.
I am also planning on putting an aspic as decoration on top of a cake.
the catch is it has to be supported by only edible products. which means
the aspic has to sit on top of cake and be support by hard edible product such as sugar
also the aspic has last for one week at room temperature.
the cake and all decorations have to be edible it will not be eaten.

What kind of cake is it to be kept that long? Have you seen it done? I can't imagine aspic lasting that long successfully even if it were still edible.

well the cake need to last a week as for apic it will have 2 time the normal amount gelatin in it.
you misunderstood. my point about edibily. it has to made from edible product but will not be eaten.

judging is based on decoration only. cake mixes are allowed.

i will be trying several options including the ones scullion suggested.
sugar, honey, vodka are also on the list.

I don't think it would remain clear if you used honey.

i don't think it would have to be clear honey - once it's diluted, the sugar/ honey is in solution - rape honey is really white.
but wouldn't the sugar content have to be quite high to get the preservation effect - once you add water and a good growing medium into the mix it may not be that much of a preservative.
we'll be interested to know how you get the time scale extended.

honey has anti mold, anti bacterial and other qualities . as i said it will not be eating so as long as it is
not poisonous I can use a lot things. splitting is bigger issue then the mold at moment.

true, but only in the concentration produced by bees. once you start adding water it becomes a different matter altogether - just think mead.
